What do you do if the nemesis of your class – or at least your teacher – drops by to talk to his supposed son? The look on their faces here, especially Victor’s embarrassment, is priceless. Devin is finally forced to fess up to Miles, leading to an unexpectedly funny moment by Marcus. Miles then proceeds to throw up, which for some reason struck me as a moment of existential self-awareness, of dread regarding his aloneness in the world, Sartre’s Nausea coming to mind because of the philosophy undercurrent. The more I think of this scene, the more portentous it feels, especially in how the class understands what it’s been doing for Jack up till now.
